EVERYBODY STARTED SOMEWHERE.
Every successful business had a first customer.
Every career had a first opportunity.
Every big idea was once just an idea.
How’d You Start? is about everything that happened next.
WHAT IS HOW’D YOU START?
WE WANT THE REAL STORY
How’d You Start? goes on location with entrepreneurs, creators, craftspeople, and people with interesting careers to find out how they actually got where they are.
Not just the highlight reel. We want to know about the first customer. The bad ideas. The mistakes. The moment they almost quit. The lucky break. The turning point. And what they’d do differently if they had to start over tomorrow.
Real people. Real stories. No scripted answers.
WHY THE SHOW EXISTS
We usually meet people after they’ve become successful.
We see the restaurant after there’s a line out the door. We see the business after it has employees. We see the creator after they have an audience.
What we don’t usually see is what happened before that.
MEET THE HOST
NICK HARRISON
Nick Harrison is a wannabe entrepreneur, creator, and lifelong tinkerer who’s probably started more things than he should have.
From building businesses and making things in the shop, to creating content and interviewing interesting people, Nick has always been curious about the behind-the-scenes.
That curiosity led to one simple question that started this show:
WE GO TO THEM
Whenever possible, interviews happen where the story happened—the shop, restaurant, studio, office, job site, etc.
WE KEEP IT REAL
Guests aren’t given scripted questions or asked to memorize answers. We keep it conversational and unscripted.
WE ASK ABOUT THE START
Success is interesting. How someone got there is usually more interesting.
EVERYBODY HAS A STORY.
WE WANT TO HEAR YOURS.
Know someone with a story worth telling? Or do you have one yourself?
